Cringe Activism Movie Club - Pride

Activism portrayed on the big screen!
As the days are getting shorter and colder we cosy up in Folkets Cafe and dive down into activist stereotypes, riot romances and revolutionary plot lines.

Why does some activist-movies feel so awkward and unauthentic? Are they exploititative or is it positive representation? Why is there always a cis-romance?
This is some of the questions guiding our Cringe Activism Movie Club.

We meet, cosy up, watch the movie with popcorn, and afterwards have a short discussion of the most important question: cool or cringe?

Sunday the 17th of November at 16:30: Pride - cute or cringe?
Thatcher has cracked down on the striking miners that are slowly starving in the cold British winter. A group of gays and lesbians in London get involved in an act of solidarity to raise money for the cause. But can this fragile coalition hold strong against all the obstacles? Will some of the miners find out that THEY are gay too? Are some of the queers maybe actually miners? Will they together change the course of history and crush Thatcher? A comedy drama based on a true story.
