"Keira Alexandra Kronvold, a Greenlandic mother, gave birth to her baby in Denmark last week. But instead of bringing her child home, Keira was heartbroken to have her newborn taken by Danish authorities immediately after birth. This forced removal is the latest in a series of cases where Greenlandic children are taken from their families by a system that fails to understand or respect Greenlandic culture. This is not just a tragedy for Keira - it is a symptom of a much larger issue.
Denmark's Colonial Legacy Never Ended
Denmark's history of colonizing Greenland is far from a thing of the past. For centuries, they controlled our land, our culture, and our lives, and even today, they continue to treat us like inferiors rather than equals.
We may have gained self-rule, but Denmark still dictates too much of our existence, especially when it comes to the welfare of our children.
The recent case of Keira Alexandra Kronvold, where her newborn was taken from her, shows that the colonial mentality persists.
It's not just about one case - it's a reflection of the ongoing contempt for Greenlandic culture and autonomy." - taken from Instagram slides from @paninng.uaq
