Donny Gluckstein: The radical jewish tradition
Internationale Socialister in Copenhagen are pleased to have author, historian and member of our sister organisation in the UK Donny Gluckstein join us to speak about his most recent book THE RADICAL JEWISH TRADITION, co-written with Janey Stone.
The book came out in January 2024 as the still ongoing genocide by the Zionist Israeli terrorist state in Gaza and the West Bank escalated before the eyes of the entire world.
It seeks to take on the myth of Zionism as representative of Jewish identity, a myth that Western governments and media prop up every day, and bring forward a radically different and revolutionary history.
As co-author Janey Stone put it in a speech in Berlin earlier this year:
"The radical tradition is the history of working class and socialist Jewish struggle against both antisemitism and their position at the bottom of society. Against both oppression and exploitation. It’s the tradition that says we can fight to defend ourselves. The tradition that knows what antisemitism is, but doesn’t accept it as eternal or plan to go somewhere to set up oppress someone else. And this tradition has historically been entwined with the working class and socialist movements."
