Thinking about starting a cooperative?
This workshop by Ulrik Boe Kjeldsen from Kooperationen gives you all the basic information you need to know about how to deal with money in a cooperative - everywhere from how to get funding, to what to do with profit.
Part 1 will focus on how money is organized in various cooperative models. How do the members contribute to and share the cooperative’s capital? Is the profit reinvested, shared, or both? How about taxation and cooperative ownership? And what happens if a cooperative becomes very successful?
Part 2 will focus on how to get started. How can I fund my idea for a cooperative? What are the different ways I can get financing while ensuring democratic ownership and control?
This workshop is open and free to all.
Kooperationen is the Danish employer- and interest organization for cooperatives and social enterprises. As a member-based organization Kooperationen works to promote cooperative ownership, among other things by supporting entrepreneurs to set up new sustainable, impact-driven and democratic businesses. www.kooperationen.dk
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:
This workshop is part of Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke Aarhus’ second annual Cooperative Festival (https://fb.me/e/1KDIuuC1e). Throughout this festival, we hope to bring the concept of cooperatives back to common knowledge and public debate, as well as provide practical tools to get your own ideas for cooperatives up and running.
