We are inviting to a banner making workshop for the 2nd of December demo! 🖌️🎨
Let's make banners and placats for the day! Let's express our resistance in the ghetto law and our solidarity with all residents in the ghetto-labelled areas.
Since 2010, the state has published its annual 'ghetto lists'. It was five years ago, in 2018, that the government first published their final plan with these lists; to demolish and redevelop the areas that they have over the years labelled as 'ghettos'.
The result is that 11,000 people have been impacted and their homes have been put on the chopping block, entire neighbourhoods have been destroyed, residents have been forcibly displaced and communities have been dispersed. If this legislation is allowed to continue, even more homes will be destroyed, even more residents will be evicted and even more communities will be torn apart.
Human rights experts, academics and researchers have time and time again pointed to the catastrophic and completely senseless consequences of this law. At the same time, they highlight how this gentrification and privatisation of our cities and our common non-profit housing has been legitimised through an Islamophobic and discriminatory discourse against non-profit housing and its residents.
This is why we're taking to the streets on the 2. December - Together we stand strongest against state-led Islamophobia, displacement and gentrification!!!
We will be meeting at Folkets Hus on November 25th.
Bring whatever you feel it can be helpfull for making a banner! Fabricks, bed-sheets you no longer need, cardboard, left-over paints, brushes, cover tape. 📐
Let's fill the streets with our slogans! Let's show our resistance!
