10 reasons cooperatives are good for people and the planet - talk by Jacob Rask

Tired of the doom and gloom of today’s world of inequality, social injustice, and ecological devastation? Do you want to create a meaningful livelihood that makes the world a little better?
Well… here’s some good news!
Cooperatives are real-life, successful alternatives to the present system that can be a fundamental part of a green transition to sustainable and socially-just societies and economies.
This talk by co-author of ‘Kooperativ Håndbog’ Jacob Rask will bring us 10 steps closer to answering this question.
Jacob Rask will show 10 examples of how cooperatives today are creating a more regenerative and distributive economy. His talk will touch on topics such as democracy, community ownership, worker empowerment, social entrepreneurship, and green transition. After the presentation, there will be a Q&A session for those interested.
Jacob Rask is the co-author (along with Helena Reumert Gjerding) of The Cooperative Handbook (‘Kooperativ Håndbog’), the first and only complete guide to starting a cooperative in Denmark. Jacob also works in transformative adult education, creating learning and training opportunities for young people who want a sustainable and just society. He is formally educated in Environmental Science (Roskilde University) and Economics (Schumacher College, Plymouth University). He is also a talented illustrator and uses his drawings to communicate complicated topics, like the climate crisis. https://www.jacobrask.dk/

This talk is part of Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke Aarhus’ second annual Cooperative Festival (https://fb.me/e/1KDIuuC1e). Throughout this festival, we hope to bring the concept of cooperatives back to common knowledge and public debate, as well as provide practical tools to get your own ideas for cooperatives up and running.
