Stop Corporate Impunity!

af Global Aktion

Join us on 12th of November for a discussion on the UN Binding Treaty on Transnational Corporations and Human Rights, and what it tells us about coporate capture of the UN system.
For the past two months we have been posting around the UN process for a Legally Binding Treaty on Transnational Corporations (TNCs) and Human Rights.
A strong Binding Treaty on TNCs has the potential to transform the ways transnational capital operates, and to stop corporate impunity. The process is super relevant for all of our work in Global Aktion, and anyone interested in human rights and corporate power.
In an unprecedented move, the chair of the negotiations at the UN Human Rights council postponed the 10th session of negotiations to December, instead of the regular date at the end of October. While this may seem like a small change, the decision effectively excudes civil society and Global South states from the negotiations, and represents another occasion of corporate capture of the UN system.
Curious to learn more? Come and join us during this event, where the Global Aktion "Right to Say No" working group will give an introduction to the Binding Treaty process, how it matters, and why it is under threat.
We would love to hear your thoughts and questions on the process, share some of our insights and move forward together.
We plan to give a short talk about recent developments from the perspective of the Global Campaign to Dismantle Stop Impunity, Reclaim People’s Sovereignty and Dismantle Corporate Power, and then enter a broader discussion with you.
