Screenings for Palestine # 8 | "Wall"

Crisis Mirror is back again for our dear bimonthly screenings in Folkets Hus. Every other Tuesday evening we will show a new movie.

We have decided to focus our screenings for the time being on Palestine 🇵🇸

The siege is lying in wait.
It is lying in wait on a tilted stairway
in the midst of a storm.
We are alone. We are alone to the point
of drunkenness with our own aloneness,
with the occasional rainbow visiting.
We have brothers and sisters overseas...
kind sisters, who love us...
who look our way and weep.
And secretly they say
"I wish that siege was here, so that I could..."
But they cannot finish the sentence.
Do not leave us alone. No.
Do not leave us alone.
Mahmoud Darwish ✊

The event will be reoccurring every second Tuesday on even weeks. All movies will be screened with english subtitles.
---------------Description-------------------------------

-"Wall", Simone Bitton, 2004, 98"-

The wall is being built. Trucks carrying debris, tractors excavating fields, and bulldozers making piles of soil and dirt, are the instruments of destruction razing the source of Palestinian livelihood, the land. A detailed view on the design, the functions, and finally the erection of the Wall provokes a sentiment of alienation and surveillance, which coupled with voice-over narrations of Palestinians describing daily mistreatments by IDF soldiers and fanatic settlers, illuminates the violent, sophisticated structure and spatial mechanisms of segregation of the Israeli Occupation. "Wall" radiates the hostility and the landscape brutality of the so-called "Israeli Security Wall" against the Palestinians residing in its vicinity and shows rather closely the dire repercussions on their lives.
