Mindehøjtidelighed: Mindevæg for Gaza

Israel har siden den 7. oktober 2023 dræbt over 47.000 palæstinensere i Gaza - 70% af de dræbte er kvinder og børn. Over 200 journalister og mediefolk er blevet dræbt, mens de dokumenterede krigens rædsler i Gaza.

Amnesty Internationals rapport ‘You Feel Like You Are Subhuman’: Israel’s Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza konkluderer, at besættelsesmagten Israel har udført handlinger med en specifik hensigt om at udrydde palæstinenserne i Gaza. Handlinger som er forbudt under FN’s folkedrabskonvention. I tidsrummet vil den 28 meter lange Mindevæg for Gaza, med navn på de dræbte civile palæstinensere og journalister, kunne ses på Flakhaven i Odense.

I info-teltet vil der være mulighed for en dialog vedrørende situationen i Palæstina, en skærm hvor der er sat ansigt på nogle af de dræbte, mulighed for køb af lys og blomster, som kan lægges ved mindevæggen og mulighed for at komme i snak med organisationen "Børnehuset i Palæstina - Et hjem med hjerterum og omsorg". Der tilbydes en gratis kop kaffe eller the.

Memorial Ceremony: Memorial Wall for Gaza

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has killed over 47,000 Palestinians in Gaza – 70% of the victims are women and children. Over 200 journalists and media workers have been killed while documenting the horrors of the war in Gaza.

Amnesty International’s report ‘You Feel Like You Are Subhuman’: Israel’s Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza concludes that the occupying power, Israel, has carried out actions with a specific intent to exterminate the Palestinians in Gaza. These actions are prohibited under the UN’s Genocide Convention. The occupying power, Israel, denied international press access to Gaza to prevent the genocide from being documented, but the occupying power failed in this attempt. The genocide of Palestinians in Gaza is the most documented genocide in history.

The innocent civilians in Gaza must not be reduced to faceless numbers. Therefore, we will put faces, names, and ages to the victims during a memorial ceremony on April 5, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Flakhaven in Odense, with a 28-meter-long memorial wall featuring the names and ages of (almost all) the victims.

📅 Program for the Day:

12:00 PM - 6:00 PM:
During this time, the 28-meter-long Memorial Wall for Gaza, featuring the names of the killed Palestinian civilians and journalists, will be on display at Flakhaven in Odense.

At the information tent, there will be an opportunity for dialogue regarding the situation in Palestine, a screen where some of the killed victims’ faces will be shown, and the chance to purchase candles and flowers to lay at the memorial wall. You can also engage in conversation with the organization “Børnehuset i Palæstina – Et hjem med hjerterum og omsorg” (The Children’s House in Palestine – A Home with Room for Hearts and Care). Free coffee or tea will be offered.

2:30 PM - 4:00 PM:
During this time, there will be speeches and a minute of silence.

The speakers will be Nada Omar (Palestinian and lawyer), Ibrahim El-Hassan (Palestinian and political science student), and Sarah El-Khatib (Palestinian and social coordinator).
