Digital Literacy Workshop

af Digital Literacy Group - Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke Aarhus

Want to reduce your reliance on big tech? In this workshop, we will will discuss and share knowledge to increase our digital literacy – and support each other taking action against surveillance capitalism.

When: 13 May 17:30-19:00
Where: Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke Aarhus, The Commons
What: Together we will discuss and demonstrate for each other the issues we experience with the current digital landscape (Meta etc) and how we can improve our digital habits and spaces. You will be presented with some basics of alternative digital tools and concepts (such as the fediverse).
Why: This workshop will help seed and direct the newly formed MS Digital Literacy group’s work in supporting a transition away from platforms owned by corporations towards digital ecosystems we grow together. We hope to inspire and empower you to join us in creating safer and better online spaces for each other.

About the Digital Literacy Group
Why we formed: We often rely on digital spaces - for quickly mobilising around the world, for finding new people and groups, for finding events, coordinating, sharing, etc.
In this work, many of us would love to stop supporting unsafe and exploitative platforms like Facebook, but don't see a way forward when we act alone...
Goal: Let's fight surveillance capitalist spaces on the internet! Together, we can reimagine and build better digital ecosystems for ourselves and our fellow activists
How: Sharing knowledge between us in the group and holding collaborative learning workshops. For example, supporting each other in migrating to safer digital spaces and tools.
